- The animals kept on the farms around here are horses, cows, bulls, goats, pigs, ponies, donkeys, turkeys, chickens and geese are also kept by some of the farmers.
The cows names are usually Christian names or "Beauty, Brownie, Lass and so on. If the cattle don't go on for the cattle-driver he calls "How, how" and "hush, hush". The ploughman calls "Heef, hoaf" when he wants the horses to turn and "gee up" when he wants them to go on and "wow" when he wants them to stop.
