These houses had a big wide chimney and the fire was on the hearth. We have houses now and they are more comfortable than the houses long ago and they are slated. Some houses now are two and three storeys high.
The thatched houses long ago had very small windows in them and some of them had half doors on them. The houses before this time had windows but there were no glass in them as we have in our houses now and no doors as we have in our houses now either. Some people had bags on for the door.
