- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)chestnuts as they want. There is green skin round the chestnuts at first. Then the boys peel the chestnuts and put them in their pockets until they get brown and hard. When they get brown the boys bore holes in them with nails and put them on cords.
Then one boy plays with another boy until one of the chestnuts are broken. One boy holds up his chestnut and the other boy tries to hit it. Then the other boy holds up his chestnut and the other boy tries to hit it and so on until one of the chestnuts are broken. When one boy breaks the other boys chestnut his chestnut is "conquer one". - Holes
