- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)tap the wood lightly and gently all round to loosen the bark. When this is done take the wood in both hands holding the part from which you want to remove the bark in the right-hand, then twist inwards with the right-hand and out-wards with the left. The skin should come off easily then Next hollow out the wood cutting down about half-way and as far up as the small hole near the point. Then take a small chip off between the hole and the point. Wet and replace the bark and the whistle is complete.
- On the 21st December 1893 there was a great storm. All the houses were tossed and all the hay stacks were tumbled and blew away. Nearly all the cattle died with the hunger. There were lots of lives lost where houses fell on them. The old people never remember as bad a storm since that year.
