About three hundred years ago there was no veichle with wheels only sleighs tackled to horses. There were no bridges. Rivers were crossed by steps made with stones. When people came with loads on horses and donkeys they had to take off the creels and carry them across the river.
Some of the old roads are still used only in places. More of them can scarcely be seen with grass and crops. The old road going from Manorhamilton to Drumshambo was made in the year eighteen forty four.
All accounts of these old lanes are lost in the generations as the people emigrated and strangers drifted in from all parts of the country. There are no memorials of any kind.
