- The Leipreachan 20th June 1938Leipreachans are very seldom seen nowadays, but they were seen frequently some years ago. The Leipreachan is supposed to be the richest man known. There are stories told about him and his pot of gold. He hides his money under the ground near a large tree, and often he tells people where he has the crock of gold. If you catch him he will try to slope away. He tells the people that something is behind, and when they look around he goes away and hides. He is a foot in height and dressed in red. He wears a pointed cap with two tassels hanging from the point, and he wears long shoes pointed at the toes. He generally stays in forts and other places where he has his crock hidden. If you want to find him go to the rath about twilye [?], when the moon is shining brightly. You will find him working at his trade making shoes with his hammer. He generally makes them under a docking leaf or a mushroom. It is very seldom he is caught unless he is working busily at his trade. John Judge,
