- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)cure the old people recommend for a pain in the head is to drink very strong tea. They had lots of cures for the toothache. Some used pepper, other salt, and others smoked a pipe. They also had a cure for the whooping cough and that was to drink ferrets leavings. Another cure they had for it was to ask a man who owned a white horse what he would recommend and whatever he said to give would cure the person.

- Long ago the people had great belief in cures made from herbs, weeds, flowers, and shrubs. They did not believe in doctors and doctors were not so plentiful as they are now. If any of those old people suffered from any pain they went out and picked some weed they knew would cure them. They had a cure for sore eyes, and as soon as it was applied it gave great relief. They pulled ten gooseberry thorns then they threw one of those away. There were nine left and the pointed the nine at the sore eye and it was cured in a short-time. If any of them fell and broke a bone they got chicken-weed and boiled it in water. They took it out and put it on a cloth and applied it to the broken bone. They did this three times and when the bandage was removed the bone was cured.
