When potatoes were first used here people used eat them raw with sugar. Potatoes, fish and buttermilk was the usual dinner. The potatoes were boiled in a large round metal pot suspended from a crook. There were then thrown into a "badog" a flat basket made of sally rods. Long ago people used sit on stools round the badog in the centre of the floor. Badogs are still used in some house but only as a means of draining the water from the potatoes.
