“A number of beggar men go around this district ...”
A number of beggar men go around this district selling pins, cups, clothes, polish and some sell cigarettes. People do not like to see them coming as some of them ask too much. Other beggar men look for a night's lodging.
There is an old man that comes to our house. His name is John O'Brien. The people put a nickname on him. They called him "Jack the Jennet" because long ago he had a jennet. He sells clothes. He served in the war.
Some beggar men would curse you if you would not give them something.- Bailitheoir
