  1. There is a rath in Dunphy's in Ballavarra, where some gold is hidden. It is said that there is a black hound guarding it. The hound has often been seen by the people late at night. There are also lights seen in this field at night. No one ever looked for the gold, as they fear harm from the black hound, which they believe to be an evil spirit.
