  1. There are several old ruins in Raheendenore and Coppena.
There is a ruin in Raheendenore by the side of a stream. It was owned formerly by Mr. John Denison. The walls of it are still standing. They were built of stones and mortar made of yellow clay and water. There are holly trees, privet hedges, and the remains of flowers still to be seen there. It was built by John Denison himself, and there is a lovely spring well beside it. The roof fell in, and he was obliged to remove to Tinnehinch where he spent the remainder of his days. He was buried in Saint Mullins in the County Carlow. There is also in Raheendenore the ruins of another house owned by Maurice Doyle. The walls are still standing. Like the other building the walls were built of stones, and mortar made of yellow clay.
