It is first heated to the fire: two or three of them are stitched together to form a wide band. After being well rubbed with lard, it is then placed around the patients neck, and fastened in position with a clean cloth or handkerchief.Coughs 8.Ivy is an excellent cure for coughs. It is first picked and cleaned well and then boiled well and left simmering beside the fire for a few hours. When it is well boiled it must be strained through a fine cloth in case any pieces of the ivy might flow through. Next morning it must be tightly corked after being again boiled and buried for a month. When it is raised again a glass must be taken each day. This is a most powerful remedy for a cough.Sore eyes 9.A simple cure for sore eyes is to wash them in the morning with cold tea.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
