    Then at night time, it was usual to have a dance for the married couple, and a crowd of boys from the locality dressed up, and disguised themselves to go the the dance. This added to the merriment of the night, and helped to pass it away.
    People never married in the month of March, May, or August, as they thought they were unlucky months for marriage. It was usual for them to marry in Shrove, and in some places on Good-Friday. There is an old rhyme pertaining to the lucky, and unlucky days for marrying,
    "Monday for health"
    "Tuesday for wealth"
    "Wednesday the best day of all"
    "Thursday for crosses"
    "Friday for losses"
    "Saturday no day at all"
    Wednesday then, was the day most people got married, and up to the present day, people get married on that day also.
    After a month the bride and bridegroom usually went home to the bride's house, and on that night also a dance
