Some years ago there were alot of travellers going about through the country. Most of the people called them "jipsies" They generally went in families. There are some parts of the country that that prefer to stay at in winter Sometimes the stay near this place in Summer because the like to be fishing in the lake. There are some ancient names still such as McDonough, McGinley, Wards, Stokes, and Delaney's. There were some great storytellers such as Jimmy Moore, "Mick the lark," John Sampey, and the blind Priest, Jimmy Moore would go to a house and stay for a few (days) nights When the neighbours would hear that Jimmy came they would all assemble in the house to hear Jimmy tell one of his long stories. Then he would go to another house and stay for another few nights. Mick the lark, was another great character in olden times. He used to do alot of knitting and he also went about the country with a basket selling small little articles. He also used to steal fowl(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
