   when (with that) the door opened and a strange man stood on the floor.
   "Rise out of that, woman," says he, "and come with me" - and with that, out with him.
   The woman rose and went to the door and the first thought that struck her was that the husband was "lost" in some 'dyke' or place - and that the young man was after coming for her to go 'towards' him.
   How's ever when she reached the door there he was sitting on a saddled horse. He landed her up on the "cúlóg" without speaking a word - and off they went. The poor woman was "sgeóned" but by and by, the horse stopped at the 'mouth' of a lios.
   "Go in there" said the man "and do what you can". So in she went and such a place she never laid eyes on before, with lights, and furniture, and riches of all kinds - and there lying on a bed a young woman and she in labour.
   Well, why, the woman did what she could for her, and 'again a while' the child was born - the handsomest child she ever saw. When all was over, the young woman in the bed spoke to her and thanked her kindly. "But," says she. "He'll be pressing things on you (reward) but don't take anything, nor ask anything, only the 'spancel' that's hanging on the wall beyond".*
   *(Here is a variation - ask for the horse's bridle that's hanging on the wall (with which she bridled the horse, mounted & escaped.).
