- The following poetry is a part of what was composed by John and Patrick O' Sullivan when they were leaving for America over fifty year ago. They were twin brothers who lived in Laughtneill.
"Twas a bright summers morning the small birds were warbling.
The daisy clad fields were all sparkling with dew.
The land rail gave chorus from her nest in the clover.
The dove and the cuckoo on yon lofty tree.
And the lark singing high in the bright sunny sky
The morn I bid Erin last fond adieu.
Fare thee well Bellmount hill, the castle and Milk
Fare thee well Bealnablath, Glounarough and Ardrah
May the green fields never lose the sweet garlands of May.
