- Old CraftsLong ago the natives of Crookhaven and the distrcts around grew their corn in a different manner to the people nowadays. At that time nearly all farmers dug their ground with a spade but some of them had ploughs made of timber. The handles and beams were made from a certain strong wood while the sock was made of iron. At first they dug or ploughed the trench. Then they scattered the grain and lastly covered it with earth.When they had it fit to be ground into flour they never took it to a mill. They ground it with a quern. This was two round stones which rested on each other. In the centre of the top one was a round hole where the grain was put in. It also had a handle by which it was(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
