- There is an old school situated in Lisheencreagh. This school is now unused except on Sunday's. There is nothing taught there except Sunday-school every Sunday evening. My father went to school there for two or three years and he describes the condition of the school during that time. During his school-days the teacher was Mur Burchill but before that a man named Mr Allen taught school there. There were four windows and a door in the school. There was only one chimney on the building. In the school there were four blackboards; two small ones in frames and two big ones. There were hardly any lead pencils used then and the scholars wrote on slates with slate pencils. Some times they wrote on paper with pen and ink. They were never allowed write with nibs but had to have N pens to write with. They used to have a Scripture examination every Friday evening.
