  1. There was an old man living in Ballydehob named George Hennessy. He was a tin smith by trade. He used to visit the townland of Lisheencreagh at the New Year, Easter and at the Autumn. He was married and his wife's name was Joan Hennessy. They were very poor. He was always welcomed at my Grandfather's house and when he would come in he would get a good meal. His wife used to travel around with him. He used to mend broken cups, saucers, plates, kettles, pots and pans. His wife used to mend them with him. They always took a bag of potatoes or a bag of turf with them. They used to go around in a donkey and cart. He was very useful to the people.
    Every year in the month of September two men come around to my father's house buying feathers. No-body knows their names, but the people call them the "Feather Boys". They are very funny dressed, they have five or six rows of sewing around the end of their coats. They travel around from house to house; they put up a tent in the summer and they sleep in the tent; in the Winter they sleep in a caravan of their own. They have a pony and cart and they put the bags of feathers into the cart. They have a dog with them in the cart.
