   On the rocks near Sandy's Isle.

   Oh God! Oh God! 'tis hard to die with hope to hear thy call
   But they knew that God was overhead and he provides for all
   The bravest deed on board that ship
   Thus done for many a day
   Was done by young John Daly the youthful engineer
   When he saw his brave companions were all for doomed to die
   He bravely stood upon the deck and prayed to God on-high.
   IV
   I hope thou shalt send down Thine and upon this cruel sea
   And I pray to-night that God may heal my mothers wails and woes
   For my mother's absent son some bitters tears will flow
   And as he stood upon the desk and watched the incoming tide
   The cruel waves they swept him o'er beneath
