- 1 In this district of Kanturk, barony of Duhallow, County Cork, there were a few poets. John. C. Deady was a poet. He was born in the Square, Kanturk. He composed, "The Praises of sweet Kanturk" and "A Midsummer Dream". He died about fifty years ago.
There was once a bard named O'Kelly and he went to Doneraile; and his watch was stolen while he was there and then he composed "The Curse of Doneraile", and when Lady Doneraile heard, that his watch was stolen, she gave him a new one. Then he made "The Blessing of Doneraile".- Collector
