  1. About 50 years ago there was a man living in the village of Boherbee He was employed by a Protestant farmer who lived right across the river Brogeen. He used to pass through a fort going to and from his work. This fort is situated in the north side of the river, and is known as Bolster's fort. So one fine summer's evening, he met the queen of the fort, and the following lines will show how he fell in love with her.

    One evening fair for to take the air by Keelnahulla oer,
    To my regret Queen Maeve I met who wounded me full sore,
    Her aspect rare did me insnare as she stood in my view
    As that fairy queen sped oer the green down by the river shoe.

    A magic crown of high renown that regal queen did wear,
    And at her command a diamond band around her forehead fair
