In the removal of cattle disease, a portion of the deceased animal was thrown across the fence into a neighbours field, thus sending the disease to the other mans cattle. In the taking away of an oat crop, a certain number of goose-eggs over which certain spells had been worked were placed by stealth in the neighbours seed oats or wheat, or even buried in his potato-beds. It is stated this often caused the failure of the crop, with a corresponding gain to the "pishogue"-workers.
