  1. A young man was thrown from a horse and apparently killed. On the second night of the wake he sat up and asked somebody to go get him the brown scapular. It was produced and when he had it put on, he passed away for good this time. During the interval he was asked, what power brought him back, he said when his mother wept her wailing caused his spirit to return. In answer to a question re the condition of the departed he replied. "If we only knew the extent of God's mercy we would be ashamed to offend Him". This happened in Cullen parish about 60 years ago.
    A man died at a place called Cock Hill in the parish of Millstreet. After death a mark as of a severe blow appeared on his body while the neighbours were discussing this at the wake the "Corpse" suddenly sat up.
