(ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)for the 'Station' Mass. Then the seond curate did the Convent duty. The householder where the Stations were held always made an offering to the Priest who celebrated the Mass, but as he felt that the Station Mass was celebrated for the people as a whole he often availed of the opportunity to have a second Mass for his own Special intentions on that day, for which he also made an offering. The offerings in the vast majority of cases is 10/=, but, in the case of the well-to-do it is usually £1. A very fine custom has become very common that of having two masses said in the house on the Station Morning. The Curate whose duty it was to visit the sick very often received offerings from the old people when he visited the house. This has become a very comon practive since the introduction of the Old Age Pensions. The majority of these old people are well looked - after by their children and they put a little aside for the 'rainy day' - that rainy day to them is a little for the priest when he makes his call and, as will be dealt with later for their wake and funeral.
