During the days preceeding the Baptism and until the following Sunday there was a complete quietness in the house. Old women came quietly to see the mother and baby and the father forced them to 'drink the health' of his child. The whole conversation centred around the child and such expressions as "You weren't long with him" or "You weren't in any hurry with him" were the usual. On the following Sunday or Sunday-week if the birth was too near Sunday the friends of both husband and wife come to the house for the 'Christening'.
