On ash Wednesday people go before Mass to the Altar rails and the priest makes the sign of the cross on their foreheads with holy ashes to show us that we are but dust and into dust we will be turned. On Easter Sunday people eat more eggs than on any other day. On May morning people get up before the sun rises and make butter. That is called May butter and it is kept to cure sore teeth. On Saint John's night people light bon-fires in honour of Saint John.
