  1. A man dreamt, that money was hidden in a fort at Kilmacrane, Banteer, on the lands of John Connors. He took a spade and pickaxe to search for it.
As he was about to dig the spot, where the money was, he could not enter the spade in the ground. He tried in several places, but could not enter the spade. Where he tried is still to be seen.

  2. A man named "Daniel Bradley", was fencing around a fort at "Kiskeam", Banteer. When digging a sod, he put the spade down through a heap of sovereigns. He was afraid to take them, but ran to his employer to tell the tale. The latter returned without delay with him, to find the spade stuck in the ground, and the treasure gone.

  3. Gold is supposed to be hidden in the bog at Kilcorney, Banteer. Men went to dig for it, and as they were about to raise the last flag-stone, as they thought, they heard "roaring" but did not cease.
After a while the "black bull" came up from below, and they ran away with fear, never to try again. This story was told by old Mr Keller, Loughlea, who died over 30 years ago, aged 78 years.
