    Jeremiah OMahony was the fastest short distance runner in his time. He won cups and medals. Michael Begley was a runner up to OMahony Both Athletes won in Banteer the same day. Philip Noonan of Moygue was the world's champion about 50 years ago as his collection of silver and a little gold prizes can prove his acts. He got a medal in Dublin for the pole jump 11ft - 4ins Seán Óg Murphy jumped a river 24ft.
    Thomas Cusack, Stephen ODea and Charles Kiely were famous mowers. Charles Kiely was the best mower of these and he used cut an Irish acre every day.
    Three OMahony brothers and Philip Purdon were famous dancers. The steps they used were Horn-pipes and Jigs
