- There are a few fairs here but the biggest of them is the thirty first of August. Cows, bulls, calves and pigs are sold there. In olden times there used to be a market for fat pigs the day before the fair and then the fair after it. The seller pays tolls to the baron of the fair and his name is John Murphy and he lives near the "Leap". There is always a toll board near the church and charges of cows, calves, bonhams and bulls are written down on it. When the person that buys the cattle is marking them he marks them with raddle or with a scissors or ties a bit of cord on to their tails. When people are making the bargain the person that sells gives luck money. When they are making a bargain they clap their hands together or Protestants spit on their hands.
