  1. Long ago my grandmother used to make "Stampy" bread. She used to wash six potatoes very clean and then grate them very finely and get a small supply of flour and a pinch of bread soda and a little of sour milk. The ingredients were mixed together and kneaded. It was baked on a griddle. The griddle was placed on a stand while the cake was baking so as not to wast (sic) the fire. The griddle is a flat piece of iron, round like a plate. My grandmother has the griddle and stand still at home.
