    My Home District
    My home is in the townland of Ballymacegan, in the Parish of Lorrha, in the Barony of Lower Ormond. There are eight houses in the townland and the approximate number of people is thirty two. Hough is the most common name. All the houses are slated except one which is thatched.
    Houses were more numerous formerly than at present. There are three houses in ruins but the foundations of many other houses can still be seen.
    Many people emigrated from here to America in former years.
    The land in the district is good. There are many nice woods and hills in the vicinity and my home is on the banks of the Shannon.
    Ballymacegan gets it's name
