Sheep and goats also give signs of the weather. When you see them high on the hills you can be sure of a fine spell. When a storm is coming they are the first to know it. They come down from the hills then. If you see cows on a sunny day lying down it is a sure sign of rain. If you see a horse lying down on a high bank it is a sure sign of rain. If you see a cat sleeping with back turned to the fire it is a sure sign of rain. If you hear a dog barking and roaring it is a sign of fine
