One night many ago a certain man was coming home from a friend's house...

through which he had to pass. He went to where the horse was and he was surprised to see that the horse came towards him. He leaped on the horses back and made a vain attempt to guide him the right way. The horse galloped off in a different direction.
He soon found out he was among ghostly beings. Looking about him he thought he recognised persons who were dead long before. They were all dressed in white robes and they had long silvery hair.
He was getting very weak. Next a man came forth from the crowd, stood before the man for a moment and then disappeared. After five minutes in an all the ghastly beings began to disappear and he found out he was in a vast wood.
He heard a horse running and looking and he saw the same horse coming towards him. He had no desire to mount this beast again but something compelled him to do so. In a short time he was at his own gate but he was too weak to dismount. Some being which he could not see lifted him off the horse and he staggered into his own house. He managed to undress and he fell exhausted on his bed.
After this the horse would come every evening and he would be forced on his back by some imperceptible power. Each evening he would see hair-raising object.
