    They'll rush to the front like a mettled steed;
    At sport or football they will prevail,
    Their skill and courage never fail;
    Great teams are triumphant North and South,
    Till they meet with the lads from the County Louth.
    The maids of Louth are beyond my praise,
    God keep them and give them length of days;
    All natural graces of woman kind,
    Of rarest texture in them you'll find,
    Winsome and sweet as the summer dawn,
    Or the cooling breeze when the heat comes on
    Come pain or sickness or sorrow by
    You'll find them angels of charity
    When fun and joke and the dance hold sway.
    Tis they are the finest of company;
    They may keep all their treasures North and South
    But give me two Colleens of County Louth.
