The old people drank out of a "noggin". A noggin is a wood vessel shaped like a cup. - The people in olden times had three meals a day. They ate in the morning, noon and evening. The meals they had were breakfast dinner and supper. The men worked for about three or four hours before their breakfast.
The meals consisted, for the most part, of buttermilk and potatoes. In the morning they had home made oaten meal bread and buttermilk. For dinner potatoes and buttermilk were used. For their "tea" the old people had buttermilk and oaten meal bread.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
