  1. The people in Termonfeckin usually get married in summer and in autumn. May and July are regarded as unlucky months to get married in. there is an old saying in the parish about the days for getting married.
    "Monday for health
    Tuesday for wealth
    Wednesday the best day of all
    Thursday for losses
    Friday for crosses
    Saturday no day at all."
    There was no match making in Termonfectin for the past fifty years. Match making was carried out in this way. When a man wanted to get married he would bring another young man with him to the girls house. They would bring a bottle of whiskey with them. They would treat the girls parents and then ask for the daughter. The usual dowry for the bride to have
