- There is a field in Flanagan's land, which is in the townland of Cookstown in the parish of Ashbourne, and it is known as "The Church Field".
Tradition says that the church which once stood there was destroyed by Cromwell as he made his way towards Drogheda in 1649.
There was a graveyard surrounding this church, and Dick Clarke, an old man of eighty who lives in Ballamadun says his ten month's baby brother was buried in this churchyard.
This goes to show that people have been buried there less than a hundred years ago.
The former owner of this particular field was a Protestant named Harvey who lived until the year 1899 in the house now occupied by Patrick Byrne Cookstown. Harvey is said to have taken up the tombstones and flagged his kitchen floor with them. This is however(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
