- Travelling Folk
Travelling folk that travel around this part of the country are called "Tinkers" or sometimes they are called "Beggars" but they don't like that name, they prefer the name of "Gypsies".Old women and men go around selling pins, needles, hairpins, studs, laces, combs etc.The men all sell carpets, basins, buckets and brushes. Some tinkers are well off and go around in caravans, or drays and they have asses and dogs. Those tinkers that travel from place to place on foot, camp out in the open at night. They light fires along the side of the road or along the ditch, and it is very pleasant to see the fire blazing up and the old men and women sitting around it talking or the men(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
