- In this district people do not as a rule consider certain days lucky or unlucky.
It is however the custom for people to get married on Wednesday as it is considered the first step towards happiness and success to receive the sacrament of matrimony on that day. Shrove is not a popular time for this great event and many marriages take place in June or September.
Saturday is considered an unlucky day on which to change residence or take up a new occupation the popular belief being that "Saturday's flitting makes a short sitting."
People say that "wet Friday brings a wet Sunday" and Friday is considered a lucky day on which to put down hatching eggs.
When a tea leaf floats on top of tea it is possible to find out the day on which the visitor (which if denotes) will arrive(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
