The nettle is sometimes used as food. The leaves are stripped from the stem and boiled like cabbage. They are used to cure measles, but in this case it is the water in which they are boiled that is taken. Once I lived near Bailieborough and a chemist there used to pay children for gathering the dandelion plant. This is why goats' milk is so good to drink, as goats always eat the dandelion plant.
