  1. Some people have a great disgust and dislike to rats. They say that they forebode some disaster or foretell some evil. They are supposed to bring ill-luck. If a person sees one on the road, they are disliked more for the very appearance than for their destructive habits. They often noticed to come in numbers in some places and to disappear quickly. At a cross roads between Bracklyn and Raharney numbers of rats collect and are seen in great droves. It is said they are seen occasionaly going from Raharney to reverdale which is about half mile. It is said where ever they make their appearance a man's death in the district soon follows.
