Unlucky Things
It is unlucky to meet a red hairied woman. To let a baby fall out of your arms at the door-step. To let a young child look into a looking glass. To kill a swallow or a robin. To hit a person with an alder stick because the Cross was made from the same timber. To kill a cat. To kill a man. To take anyones beads. To curs a cow or a heifer.
lucky
To find a horse shoe is the sign of luck.
To meet a black cat is a lucky sign. Crickets coming in to a house is a lucky sign.
To see sparks flying up the chimney is the sign of money to the house.
When sparks fly from the fire toward a person they say money is going to him.
A crowing hen and a whistling are unlucky.
