- Long ago the people crossing from Lanesboro' to Connaught had to cross in boats or fords. The present bridge was built in the year 1844.
The road leading to Newtowncashel it one time was where the field now owned by Mr Patrick Farrell Lanesboro'.
About two hundred years ago the roads of Ireland were very narrow and windy. There was no horses or carts in those days. After a few years when horses and carts came in the old roads or paths were made wider but a majority of them remain crooked and bent yet.
