- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)come back in Spring to lay and hatch their eggs here. The Magpie builds her nest very high up in a big tree. She builds it of twigs on the outside and moss inside to leave it warm. She lays about six eggs and hatches them for three weeks. It is said that if the swallows are flying low it is a sign of rain. The Crows go in big bands darting and roaring when it is going to rain. The wild birds would alight on St Brigid's hands because she would feed them in stormy weather. Some birds would forsake their nests if anybody touched the eggs or the young birds. It is thought that the birds can talk to each other because when one bird sings another one answers her.
