- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)water and the people would take it for the cure of a cold. The cure they had for ring worm was to mix "gun powder" and "unsalted butter" and put it round where the ring worm was. The cure the people had for the headache was "dandelion" with salt and water and they would drink that. When they would have a pain in their back's they would dig "fern roots" and boil them. When they were boiled they would let them get cold. Then they would put them to their backs. "Fern root's" also cures a sore neck. They would roast onions and then they would pound them with butter and a poultices of them around their necks. Another cure for a toothache is to take a mouthful of cold water and hold your back to the fire until the water boils in your mouth.
