- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)as being a good feeder, especially for pigs. There is only one man alive in this locality at the present time who knows the art of making loset baskets, creels and other wicker work. He is Mr. O'Reilly from the townland of Lislea, Crosskeys. Creels have gone out of use completely, canvas bags taking their place, while baskets are very rarely seen.
Hen's Nests.
Twenty years ago hens' nests were specially made from straw. When finished they were like two bee-skeps placed one over the other with a hole in the middle. They tapered at both ends, were about two feet in height and a little over a foot in width. These were hung from the roofs of outhouses, one beside the other. Very cosy and partly in darkness these nests were supposed to be inducive to laying. Mr. Tommy Galligan, Lislea, still makes them.- Faisnéiseoir
