- Many people are supposed to be good judges of the weather. They observe the sun, the moon, the clouds and the rainbow.
When the setting sun is a silver colour rain is approaching, but if it is red or golden good weather is expected. If the moon is clear and shining brightly there will be a frost that night and a good day the next day. If storm is approaching there is a ring round the moon, and a kind of mist hangs before it.
A rainbow in the morning is a sign of rain before night, and a rainbow in the evening is a sign of good weather.

Birds and animals are often used as weather omens. If the birds are flying high it is a sign of good weather, and when they come(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
