  1. As I rode out one summer's evening,
My speculation was to take a view,
The river ran in clear crystal fountain,
Where pinks and daisies by nature grew,
It being a seat of elevation,
    My admiration it withdrew,
I asked in silence it's name and title
And little suspected where on I stood
When a genius answering and whispering slowly,
It's name and title is the Ravenswood.
    Verse 11
There is fine walks in its habitation,
And a lovely vine-yard erected there,
There is a refuge for the dove and partridge
Or other off-springs from the winter's air,
It's like mid-summer in cold December,
No storm intrudes the gentle abode,
With rampart wafering and flood gates quivering,
No storm could face the Ravenswood.
