    Roinn Roinn Postáil
    Long ago the people in this district used sowens in the winter when milk was scarce. They put some oat-meal in a crock and they filled it with spring water and they left it steeping for a couple of days then they stirred it and it became a white colour and they strained it into another vessel. Then they took this instead of milk for eating porridge. In the summer-time they boiled the liquid and it thickened like custard does now and there was a nice pleasant taste off it. Then they ate this with sweet milk.
